Ferg, Steve and Darrel arrive in Czech, good to catch up with the team in the final build up for the games. Training is going more smoothly now, Steve and I have had one session back in the K2 – feeling more positive with some good time trials. Everybody is anxious to race and see how we go.

Good to Catch Up
July 23, 2004Five More Days in England
July 18, 2004I am currently training in London. I have 5 more days here in England before I head back to Czech to catch up with Ferg and Stevo.
I have been training out of Royal Canoe club, which is based on the Thames. Paddling on the river has made a nice change to training on regatta courses.
I have just had a great day sight seeing. I have really enjoyed my time in England, it has been refreshing to be able speak English and eat similar food to home. The people have been really hospitable and I have enjoyed the change of scenery.
Training in Nottingham
July 8, 2004I am now in my second of week training in Nottingham, where I have been staying and training with Tim Brabants, the number one English paddler.
I have started to gain more strength as each week passes, doing some pbs in my 2k repeats. I have also started back into my weights after putting them on the back burner while doing some good quality miles in Czech, it is reassuring to see my strength is coming back as well as we anticipated.
The weather is living up to its reputation, with consistently strong wind blowing down the course; this has been great for my preparation for Athens.
In the weekend we raced the English National championships into a very strong headwind, I had a great battle with Tim Brabants managing to get away over the last 250 for a 2.6sec win, this was great as I have been trying out some bigger paddles and have done some good times downwind so it is reassuring to hold it together in a longer race.
