Back in New Zealand

September 17, 2004

Finally back in New Zealand, great to be home, even despite the bad weather, four and a half months is a long time on the road.

Today we had a Parade in my home town of Taumarunui, over a couple of thousand people turned out, an amazing feeling, after such humble beginnings.

I have finally got a chance to take my new Evo Edge out on some white water. Great to be back on the river where it all began.

Four Great Days in Bayeux France

September 12, 2004

Kaite and I have just had four great days in Bayeux,France, We have been fortunate enough to stay in a 600year old farm house that some friends of ours from New Zealand are looking after.

We visited the Omaha beach and the war museums and cemetery, over 10,000 people buried there, all the crosses are made out of marble and the grounds are impeccably maintained.

Tomorrow Katie and I leave for New Zealand, starting with a two hour training ride into Paris, then a few metro change overs followed by a six hour train ride to Frankfurt followed by 26hrs of travel to New Zealand.

Game Over

September 5, 2004

The games now over, I am enjoying a break in Italy where I have come to watch the World Mountain Running Champs. Today the top Kiwi Jonathon Wyatt won the world title, awesome to be here cheering the Kiwis on.

I raced the 10k uphill event this morning, to get 36th in Open Men. I have another week in France before I head back to New Zealand.
